CSO Youth Orchestras Present Spring Concert May 5

  • Thursday, April 24, 2014

The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera Youth Orchestras concludes their 2013-2014 season on Monday, May 5, at 7 p.m. at the Tivoli Theatre featuring all four orchestras and featured soloists, including Justin Smith, oboist, and Isabella Vanderhoof, PAL Vocal Competition winner.

Music will vary from Star Trek to Mahler, and a great variety of musical styles in between.  There is a folk song from Ukraine, a melody by Puccini (an all-time favorite of many), a musical rendition of an American legend (John Henry), and a performance of the final movement of Mahler’s 1st Symphony, a virtuosic tour de force for any youth orchestra.

The CSOYO Prelude and Etude Orchestras, conducted by Nichole Pitts, will open the concert.  Following them will be the CSOYO Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Sandy Morris. The program (with no intermission) will conclude with the CSOYO Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Gary Wilkes.

Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for children, students, and seniors.  Call 267-9011 for more information.
