Materials Intertwined Is May Exhibit At River Gallery

  • Thursday, April 24, 2014

Moving through nature serves as a starting point for both the featured artists in the River Gallery May exhibit, Materials Intertwined, collecting ideas, materials, and inspiration from their natural surroundings.

While Kim Keats is entwining tree bark with stone and twig to create sculpture, Bernie Rowell is stitching fibers together to depict those same elements in her quilts. Coming from both North and South Carolina, they bring with them a body of work that unites the intimate nature of the handmade with the complexities of the environment, said officials.

The exhibit will run May 1-31 with an opening reception with the artists on Friday, May 2, from 6:30-8 p.m. River Gallery is at 400 E. Second St.

Events are free and open to the public
