A Benton, Tn., woman was charged with domestic assault after police had to be called when she attacked her mother using her cell phone.

When police arrived at their home, the mother's right eye was swollen and bruised and her lip was burst and bleeding.

She said she and her daughter had been in an argument while standing in their yard. When the mother asked about her daughter's drug use, their fight escalated.

According to the mother, she told her daughter she had to leave because she had been using drugs.

At that point, she said her daughter cursed at her, then started hitting her in the face with her cell phone.

The daughter, Ashley Free, however, said her mother punched her first. She said she had pushed her mother off of her, but told police she never struck her mother.

Police decided Ms. Free was the primary aggressor and arrested her on Saturday.
