William Bowman
William “Bill” Bowman, Jr., 95, a lifelong resident of Bakewell, Tennessee, died on Monday, April 21, 2014.
He owned and operated a saw mill for over 50 years. Bill was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed coon hunting and deer hunting. He served our country in the United States Army during World War II. Bill was of the Baptist faith.
His parents, William and Sallie Hughes Bowman; brothers, Paul Hughes, Abe Bowman and James Bowman, preceded him in death.
Bill is survived by his wife, JoAnn Standifer Bowman; three sons, Billy (Hope) Bowman, Robert (Julie) Bowman and Joe Bowman; his brother, Cornelius Bowman; six grandchildren, SPC Michelle Bowman, U.S. Army, Dakota Bowman, Estan Knox, Hazi Drew Bowman, Sara Grace Bowman, Brandi Nicole Bowman and William Jack Bowman; one great-grandchild, Robert Zander Bowman and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, April 24, at 1 p.m. with Reverend Joe Runyan officiating. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation is on Thursday, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
