TVA Needs To Take A Closer Look At The Coal Industry

  • Monday, April 21, 2014

TVA recently hosted a webinar to seek additional input on doing an early revision to their Integrated Resource Plan that would continue their shift away from abundant and affordable energy sources like coal.  My concern is the risk of higher rates as well as loss of jobs that result of this move away from coal.  We would like TVA to watch out for ratepayers here at home, and that includes taking a closer look at the coal industry that has taken steps to reduce pollution.

I would ask that TVA slow down on its planned shift away from coal--including shutdown of Widows Creek--until we know the impact that this shift is going to have on our monthly utility bills and economy. This situation needs much more study, and homeowners, business leaders and manufacturers need more time to be heard.
