Army Veterans Did Tours In Vietnam And Iraq

Dale Franklin Davis, 65, of East Ridge, died on Friday, April 18, 2014.

He was a lifelong resident of East Ridge and was of the Baptist faith. Dale served his country in the U.S. Army and retired from U.S. Army National Guard after tours in Vietnam and Desert Storm. He also retired as a truck driver in 2007. Dale was a loving father, grandfather and brother, who will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Murriel F. and Edna Louise Tallent Davis and son, Tommy Payne.

Dale is survived by his children, Greg (Tammy) Payne of Flintstone, Brad Davis of Ringgold, Jennifer (Henry) Davis of East Ridge, and Gary (Angela) Davis of Alabama; sister, Merlin Campbell of Ringgold; brother, Mike Davis of McDonald; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, in the funeral home chapel, with Reverend Bill Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery, with full military honors.

The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday and prior to the service on Wednesday.

Arrangements are by W.L. Wilson and Sons Funeral Home-Fort Oglethorpe.
