Beaty, D.Z. "Radio" (Cleveland)

D.Z. "Radio" Beaty, 87, of Cleveland, TN, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014 at his home.  

He was born on December 21, 1926 to the late Thomas and Birtie Beaty.  Radio enjoyed many things throughout his life.  He was a past President of Cleveland Jaycees, the last survivor of the Old Mans Club at the McDonalds on 25th street, he enjoyed boating and being outdoors, and earlier in life he participated in the Citizens Riding Club and enjoyed Wagon Trains.  He worked as a District Supervisor in the Life and Casualty Insurance Company and as Independent Manufacturers Representative for Collins Furniture Company in Cleveland, TN. Above all things, however, he was a loving spouse, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Earl Beaty; sister, Hazel Beaty Billig; and niece, Sherry Faye Tunks.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Peggy King Beaty; daughters, Beirne Beaty, Debbie Roper (Mike), Julie Allen (Drew) and Michelle Earley; sons, Zeno Beaty and Donnie King; grandchildren, Kevin Cofield (Kate Sutton) and Keith Cofield; great-grandchildren, Amelia Sutton-Cofield, Bryce Cofield and Stephanie Allen; nieces and nephews, Brenda Remine, Carol Corum (Eddie), Pam Matthews (Clyde), and Gail Walker (Billy); and several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews and special furry friends.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday April 19, at Mt. Olive Church of God located at 3522 Harrison Pike, Cleveland, TN 37311 with Pastor Gary Sears and Pastor Teresa Norman officiating.  Interment will follow the service in Beaty Cemetery with full military honors.  

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, April 19 before the service.
