The Big Dog Bonanza adoption at SPCA of Bradley County continues through the shelter’s grand opening event on Sunday, May 4.

As part of the Big Dog Bonanza, adoption fees are $25 for any dog weighing more than 40 pounds. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccinations and a microchip with free lifetime registration. In addition, all big dogs will go home with a treat and toy bag valued at more than $25.

Adopters of any big dog will be entered into a drawing for a $100 gift certificate to Petco and a gift certificate for a bath and groom for their new big dog. The drawing will take place at the SPCA’s grand opening event.

The grand opening will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, at the shelter. There will be a brief dedication service of the new shelter, refreshments and tours of the facility. There will also be drawings, door prizes and a chance to meet shelter staff and board members.

SPCA founders and charter members will be recognized, and charter members will receive their T-shirts and membership cards.

The day before the grand opening, the SPCA is partnering with Cleveland State Community College in a “Dancing for the Dogs” Zumba party fundraiser. Licensed Zumba instructors will be leading the dance party, which will be on Saturday, May 3, from 4-6 p.m. Tickets are $10 each and are available in advance of the event at the SPCA, 1570 Johnson Blvd. in Cleveland, or at Dixie Day Spay, 182 Airport Road in Cleveland. Tickets will also be available at the door on the day of the event.

It's not too late to become a charter member of the SPCA of Bradley County.  Join before May 1 and the membership will be recognized as part of a permanent display inside the new animal shelter. Membership levels begin at a donation amount of $10 annually (or a pledge to donate $1 per month for the next 12 months) for “Puppy Paws,” children ages 0-10. The top membership category, “SPCA Guardian Angel,” recognizes donors who give $1,000 or more per year.

In addition to individual membership, the SPCA provides membership categories for families, organizations and businesses. Explore membership levels, join and make a membership donation on the SPCA’s website at www.spcaofbradleycountytn.org.

Those who give donations of $500 or more in 2014 will be recognized as SPCA Founders. A wall inside the shelter will permanently display the names of the Founders. Those joining at the “Best Friends” membership level ($500 to $999 annually) or the “Guardian Angels” membership level ($1,000 or more annually) will also have the opportunity to name one of the 20 kennels in the shelter for the remainder of 2014. Donors can choose to have their name, a family name, or an organization name displayed on the kennel. They can also sponsor the kennel in memory or in honor of a human or animal loved one.

In addition to the kennel-naming opportunity, the following additional naming opportunities are available:

• Permanent naming of the shelter, $50,000 donation.
• Permanent naming of the Dog Care Center, $25,000 donation.
• Permanent naming of the Small Animal Center, $20,000.

For more information about these naming opportunities, contact SPCA of Bradley County Development/Communications Director Beth Foster by email at  development@spcaofbradleycountytn.org or telephone at 457-2519.
