Rep. Richard Floyd
Rep. Richard Floyd announced Thursday that he is retiring from the state House.
He said, “The desire to spend more time with my family and the need to properly recover from recent surgery has prompted me to not seek re-election. To all the wonderful people of District 27, I can never express my deepest appreciation for the great privilege you extended to me by allowing me to represent you in your state government.
"I shall always be grateful for the many special people God placed in my life to help me in every campaign. Serving District 27 in our state government will always remain one of my life’s greatest experiences. I pray I have served you honestly, fairly and with integrity. Thank you for honoring me with your trust. I have been humbled and blessed by your friendship and confidence.”
Rep. Floyd, 69, is a member of Stuart Heights Baptist Church and was long employed with Coca-Cola Bottling.
