The 2013 Roueché Chorale
The Roueché Chorale celebrates 15 years of ministry with this year’s presentation of the Chattanooga Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols Dec. 11 and 12.
Jeffrey Roueché, artistic director of the Chorale, founded the group in 1999. Since that time, the Chorale and Orchestra has presented the Candlelight program in various churches throughout the Chattanooga area.
A prelude of harp music will precede this year’s program. The service will include the sounding of the shofar and a beckoning prayer in Hebrew by Hampton Baxter. The service consists of scripture readings followed by carols. A candlelighting ceremony follows, symbolizing that Jesus is “the Light of the World.” The congregation will join the Chorale and Orchestra in singing a medley of well-known Christmas carols, and the service will close with the Chorale’s sung prayer, “God Go With Us.” Anthems for this year will include “Unto Us a Child Will Be Born,” “Kyrie,” “Prepare Ye the Way,” “Baruk Haba,” “O Holy Night,” “Children of the Light,” and “The Majesty and Glory of Your Name.”
The service will be held at 7 p.m. on Dec. 11 and 12 at Ridgedale Baptist Church, 1831 Hickory Valley Road. Admission to the program is free.
