A Bradley County woman has been arrested on child abuse charges.

Members of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office began the investigation into the incident after the eight-year-old boy failed to attend school Monday. Officers continued the probe by visiting the child’s residence, where they encountered the child and his guardians. While at the residence, the deputy observed injuries across the child’s back. Members of the BCSO’s Criminal Investigations Division and the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services were notified.

Amanda Prince, 33, was interviewed and admitted to striking the child repeatedly across the back with a horse riding crop. After conducting interviews and documenting the injuries to the child, Ms. Prince was taken into custody and charged with child abuse. She was booked into the Bradley County Jail and subsequently released on bond.
