Thomas Wright
Thomas Clinton Wright, 78, of Chattanooga, died on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in a local hospital.
Tommy was retired from the City of Chattanooga Public Works Department where he served as a superintendent.
Tommy graduated from East Tennessee State University where he played basketball. He also earned a masters in counseling from Ole Miss. At Brainerd High School, he served as head basketball and baseball coach and assisted with football. Later in life, Tommy played basketball with the Chattanooga Senior Team and represented Chattanooga in the National Senior Olympics for several years. Tommy was a faithful member of Silverdale Baptist Church.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Anne Wright and by his sister, Helen Houser.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Virginia Wright; daughters, Holley (Jason) Cox and Laura (Frank) Farmer; grandchildren, Isaac, Rachel, Sarah Kate, and Luke Woodard, also Andrew and John Farmer; Sister, Wanda (Allen) Houser (Kingsport, Tn.) and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, at the funeral home. A celebration of life follows at 7 p.m. with Reverend Tony Walliser officiating. A private committal service will be held at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 519 East 4th Street, Chattanooga, Tn. 37403.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
