Stringer's Ridge Tunnel Closed Wednesday Evening

  • Wednesday, December 17, 2014

TDOT Operations crews will be closing the Stringer’s Ridge Tunnel on Wednesday from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. to perform maintenance and repair work on the overhead drainage system.

The overhead drainage system is leaking, which is allowing water to fall onto the roadway below.  Last year there were problems with ice formation in the tunnel during cold weather because of these leaks, and the repairs should improve that situation.

The crews hope to complete the work in one night, but if they don’t complete the work, they will also be working on Thursday between 8 p.m.-6 a.m.

Detours will be posted during the tunnel closure.
