Farrell Hayes, president and CEO of Hutcheson Medical Center announced that Hutcheson remains on schedule to open the Women’s Center Dec. 15. Physicians have been scheduling procedures for several weeks in anticipation of the opening.
“We are excited opening day is next week. A lot of effort has gone into making Hutcheson once again a leading provider in Women’s Services and specifically labor and delivery,” stated Mr. Hayes. “For years, Hutcheson has been known as 'The Place Where Babies Come From' and we are extremely pleased to once again offer this service.”
In preparation for reopening the service, Hutcheson has remodeled the Labor and Delivery unit and will continue to offer skilled medical care including one-to-one nursing care for mother and baby, a Level IIB neonatal intensive care unit, anesthesiologists and neonatal physicians on call 24/7, and neonatal advanced nurse practice and specialty trained NICU nurses on-site 24-7.
Educational classes will also resume including lactation services to assist breastfeeding mothers and birthing and baby care classes will be offered throughout the year.
Darrell Weldon, MD, an OB/Gyn physician who has delivered over three generations of babies at Hutcheson and serves as chairman of the hospital’s Authority Board, says he is very excited about Labor and Delivery reopening. “Many families want to deliver their baby at Hutcheson because of the level of service excellence they have experienced in the past. The hospital has made substantial renovations to the Labor and Delivery center, and I believe patients will be pleasantly surprised and impressed with the facility.”
