Light Your Bike Family RideDec. 12  
Haul out the Holiday lights, blinkies, glow sticks and other decorations for the
Light Your Bike Family Ride onFri., Dec.
12, 6 p.m.
, beginning at Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River St. in Coolidge Park. The Chattanooga Police escorted, family friendly ride will go from Coolidge Park to the Southside. We'll ring and twinkle and spread general Holiday cheer as we meander through downtown. The first 75 riders receive a free blinkie light, courtesy of Green Trips Chattanooga. Adults and kids all ages are welcome, but kids under 8 should be in a BOB trailer, tag-along or other secure bike carrier. No training wheels, push bikes or kid's trikes, please. No reservations necessary. Just show and go.

Camp Chair Cinema Dec. 12: "Island in the Sky"
Stick around after the bicycle ride to watch our next Camp Chair Cinemaoffering: "An Island in the Sky: Clingman's Dome and the Spruce Fir Forests," on Fri., Dec. 12, 8 p.m. at Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River St. in Coolidge Park. The 35 minute film highlights four seasons of biodiversity in an eco-system unique to the southeastern U.S. The free screening is sponsored by the Lookout Wild Film Festival. BYO-Camp chair for this free, indoor screening. Popcorn will be provided.
Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge Kayak TourDec. 13 - NEW DATE!
Outdoor Chattanooga will host a very special tour by kayak of the Hiwasssee Wildlife Refuge on Sat., Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Watch thousands of Sandhill Cranes, migrating waterfowl and the resident Eagles and Osprey as you paddle the quiet waters of the refuge. Cost is $45 per person and includes all equipment, experienced guides and transportation to the Refuge from Dayton. Reservations are required and some kayaking experience is preferred. Email Outdoor Chattanooga or call (423) 643-6888 to make a reservation or learn more.

Street Smarts Dec. 15
Outdoor Chattanooga will host our free, monthly Street Smarts safe cycling class onMon., Dec. 15, 6 p.m. at our facility in Coolidge Park, 200 River St. Learn the rules of the road, TN and GA laws pertaining to bicycles, and how you should behave to make yourself visible and predictable to other traffic. Holiday Gear Swap Dec. 13
Kids for Clean Water will host a specialHoliday Gear Swap at the Gear Closet, 535 Cherokee Blvd., on Sat., Dec. 13, from 12 noon to 6 p.m. (423) 821-7786. The public is invited to enjoy shopping, gear swapping, marshmallow roasting, music, popcorn and libations. Folks interested in selling gear should contact Tanner at (615) 587-1239 to reserve a space.

Christmas Tail 5K, Kiddie K and Mutt Strut Dec. 13
The Humane Educational Society of Chattanooga will host the Christmas Tail 5K, Kiddie K and Mutt Strut on Sat., Dec. 13, 9 a.m. , beginning from the Lookout Mtn. Incline Railway parking lot at 3937 St. Elmo Ave. The event features a 5K competition and fun walks for 2 legged and 4 legged participants. All proceed benefit the Humane Educational Society.
Run, Run Rudolph 5K Dec. 13
The Run, Run Rudolph 5K and Kiddie K will start from Coolidge Park on Sat., Dec. 13, with day-of registration and packet pickup beginning at 8 a.m. The event benefits the Salvation Army's Santa Pub Crawl program. All runners are asked to bring an unwrapped present for this year's Angel Tree.
