A 17-year-old Cleveland, Tn., girl was killed Saturday morning when her vehicle crossed Dayton Pike at Sale Creek and hit two other vehicles.
A second person was in critical condition.
The crash was in the 15000 block of Dayton Pike. Traffic Investigator Todd Cook said a 2002 Honda Civic operated by Haley Howard was traveling south in the northbound lanes. The Honda first sideswiped a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer, then struck a 2010 Nissan Versa head on.
The Chevrolet and Nissan were both traveling northbound while the Honda was traveling southbound. The Honda crossed over the continuous left turn lane causing the crash.
Ms. Howard died at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet was uninjured, while the driver of the Nissan was airlifted to an area hospital with critical injuries.
The investigation is ongoing and is being handled by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division.
