Blackwell, Dorothy Mae Thomason (Benton)

Dorothy Mae Thomason Blackwell, 80, of Benton, TN, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at her residence.

She was a life-long resident of Polk County and a member of Zion Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending Happy Hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawerence and Cordella Thomason; husband, Lloyd ( Dago) Blackwell; son, Larry Leon Blackwell; grandson, Andy Foster; sisters, Ellen Ledford, Mary Jane Jenkins and Minnie Jenkins; and brother, Richard Thomason.

Dorothy is survived by two sons, Jerry (JoAnn) Blackwell and Roy (Ruth) Blackwell; two daughters, Barbara Randolph and Brenda (Robert) Foster,all of Benton; daughter-in-law, DeAnna Blackwell of Cleveland; grandchildren, Darlene Crumley, Wayne (Tiffni) Blackwell, Angie (Lloyd) Crowder, Shelby (Geoff) Ownbey, Brandi (Jason) Cheatham, Karen (Brandon) Calhoun, Missy (Nick) Kapke and Jennifer (Scott) Stewart; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Hazlewood officiating. Interment will be held in Old Ocoee Cemetery at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, at the Higgins Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
