The Salvation Army, with the help of dozens of volunteers, hosted the 5th Annual Thanksgiving Eve Community Festival Wednesday, from noon–2 p.m. at 800 McCallie Ave. Over 200 were served by 50 plus volunteers.
The Salvation Army will also be delivering meals to over 600 homebound neighbors Thursday, on Thanksgiving Day. Volunteers will arrive at 9 a.m. to begin deliveries at 10 a.m. Close to 50 inmates and their family members will be served at their half-way house tomorrow as well.
“We have so many in our community who would not have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner if it were not for The Salvation Army and its volunteers," says Major Al Newsome, area commander of The Salvation Army. "We are grateful for the support of so many who have donated to make this possible."
