Decosimo Welcomes Chaimowitz, Decker, Miller, Pickard, Shipley And Shipp

Decosimo, a Top 100 regional public accounting and advisory firm, welcomed Eric Chaimowitz, Joey Decker, Steve Miller, John Pickard, Nick Shipley and John Shipp to serve in manager and supervisor positions within the firm’s regional network of offices.

John Shipp, assurance manager, Chattanooga

Mr. Shipp specializes in performing audit and other assurance services for clients in the manufacturing and distribution and nonprofit industries.  Licensed in Tennessee after earning his CPA designation in 2010, Mr. Shipp has worked with a variety of manufacturing and distribution clients with collective revenues in excess of $500 million. He has built a strong reputation with nonprofit agencies, and he enjoys working with entities that contribute to strengthening their local communities. Mr. Shipp earned the rank of sergeant during his four-year tour with the United States Marine Corps. Following his military career, he began his studies in Accounting at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Mr. Shipp graduated at the top of his class, earning a Magna Cum Laude distinction with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Eric Chaimowitz, tax xupervisor, Cincinnati, Ohio

Mr. Chaimowitz specializes in the areas of individual tax, trust tax and gift tax. With his experience in these areas, he has expertise with tax planning as well as estate and gift tax planning. A certified public accountant, Mr. Chaimowitz is actively involved in the tax compliance practice, which includes reviews of tax returns involving partnerships and S corporations. He also has experience with international tax concerns, including passive foreign investment companies, foreign bank account reporting, as well as expatriate and non-resident tax returns. Prior to joining Decosimo, Mr. Chaimowitz worked at Big Four and national firms in both Florida and Virginia. He earned his Masters of Taxation degree at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida. Meanwhile, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers. 

Joey Decker, state and local tax supervisor, Brentwood, Tenn.

Mr. Decker, a CPA, is part of the firm’s Decosimo Hyatt office which specializes in working with clients with state and local tax service needs. Prior to joining Decosimo, Mr. Decker worked in the long-term care segment of the healthcare industry and his experience includes the preparation of federal partnership tax returns, researching and planning for the implementation of the final repair regulations and the preparation and reconciliation of depreciation reports for yearly tax returns. Mr. Decker completed both his undergraduate and Masters degrees at Tennessee Tech University. He followed up his Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting at TTU. 

Steve Miller, assurance manager, Cincinnati, Ohio

Mr. Miller has extensive experience working with clients in industries related to manufacturing and distribution. His expertise includes assisting clients with cost accounting and inventory valuation issues as well as last-in, first-out inventory calculations. Mr. Miller is also knowledgeable in aiding clients with the proper accounting treatment of foreign-owned subsidiaries. During his career, Mr. Miller has assisted numerous clients with mergers and acquisitions, including work on the due diligence process, purchase price allocations and subsequent accounting issues. A graduate of Wright State University and a member of the Dayton Manufacturers Association, Mr. Miller is a licensed CPA in the state of Ohio. Along with his work in manufacturing and distribution, Mr. Miller has experience serving clients involved in technology, government contracting, employee benefit plans and construction. 

John Pickard, senior assurance manager, Nashville, Tenn.

Mr. Pickard joins Decosimo with a wide range of executive accounting experience in a variety of business settings. While serving as the chief financial officer of a multimillion-dollar construction company and a for-profit community college trade school, Mr. Pickard, a CPA, demonstrated the ability to analyze opportunities, examine cost structures and execute effective business plans. Mr. Pickard began his career as an internal auditor and, along with his experience in construction and education, he has worked in the areas of employee benefit plans, entertainment, investment partnerships, technology, real estate and professional accounting services. A member of Beta Alpha Psi and its accounting society, Mr. Pickard earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Middle Tennessee State University. 

Nick Shipley, assurance manager, Cincinnati, Ohio

Mr. Shipley’s primary industries of focus are manufacturing and distribution, financial institutions, healthcare organizations and nonprofit organizations. His experience includes working with organizations ranging in size from $1 million to $200 million in annual revenues. Mr. Shipley’s client services primarily concentrate on the areas of audit, assurance and other advisory services. He also has expertise in working with testing related to the Bank Secrecy Act, interest rate risk validation models, 13-week rolling forecasting and cash-flow modeling. A graduate with a degree in accountancy from Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Ky., Mr. Shipley is a licensed CPA in the states of Kentucky and Ohio. He also holds the designation of a Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA).
