Dalton State Signs Dallas Vaughn To Women's Golf

  • Tuesday, November 25, 2014
Dallas Vaughn from White, Ga., in Bartow County, signed on to Dalton State's Women's Golf team Friday morning at the Ottinger Athletic Center. Vaughn was accompanied by her family, friends, and members of the Men's and Women's Golf teams. Vaughn is the only child of Tammy and Kevin Vaughn.

West Georgia, Faulkner University, and Middle Tennessee  are some of the colleges that recruited Vaughn. The main thing about Dalton State that attracted her was the support from the coaches and team.
"I wanted a program where my game could grow. Dalton State offers that" she said. "The coach, Mr. McGrew, believes in me and I love my new found sisters."

Vaughn attended High School at Georgia Cyber Academy where she had a 4.3 GPA and was duel enrolled at Georgia Highlands College. She was in the Excel program her junior and senior years.

Vaughn has an extensive amount of achievements from previous years including 2013 PGA Junior Tour Georgia two time champion, 2014 GSGA Northwest Region High School Girls' Champion, and 2014 GSGA Sectional State receiving fifth place.

Vaughn will start at Dalton State in the fall semester of next year. She is a junior studying Criminal Justice. She hopes to go to Harvard Law School after college to become a prosecutor for the Department of Justice.

In her spare time, Vaughn likes to ride four-wheelers and bake. One of her favorite quotes is from hall-of-famer Ben Hogan: "The most important shot in golf is the next one."

Coach McGrew is especially excited for Vaughn's arrival. "We are really excited to add Dallas to our program. She has shown against elite competition, on tough golf courses, that she can be the kind of player that helps us win conference championships and compete for national championships. She is an outstanding student and person that fits in well with the Roadrunner brand of athletics and academic excellence."
