Vehicle emissions testing centers in Hamilton County will closed on Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. The stations at 5206 Austin Road in Hixson and 720 Eastgate Loop in Chattanooga will be open for testing on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
“Planning ahead helps keep waiting to a minimum,” said Prentiss Taylor, program manager for the Tennessee vehicle inspection program administered by Envirotest Systems. “It’s a good idea to take vehicles mid-week when testing volume is usually lighter and to avoid testing in the final days of the month.”
Envirotest, the world’s leading provider of vehicle emissions testing and inspection, has a contract with the State of Tennessee to test vehicles for the improvement of air quality in Hamilton County, in addition to four Middle Tennessee counties, as required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to meet the Clean Air Act.
“Vehicle emissions testing has proven effective in helping Tennessee improve its air quality,” Ms. Taylor said.
