Community Health Alliance will be hosting open enrollment events starting this Saturday at the Chattanooga Downtown Public Library.
Health insurance open enrollment is from Nov.
15, 2014-Feb. 15, 2015. That means everyone will be able to shop for insurance plans or re-enroll in their current plan. It also means that everyone must enroll to avoid a tax penalty. To have health care coverage beginning Jan. 1, 2015, enrollment in the healthcare marketplace needs to occur by Dec. 15, 2014. Enrollers will be available for free assistance at the enrollment events. Consumers will need to bring proof of identity (driver’s license or picture ID), have social security numbers and birth dates for all members in the household, and proof of income (W2s, 2013 income tax return or paystubs). The good news is that assistance to help pay premiums is available for those who qualify. These events are designed to provide a public resource and direct assistance to anyone looking for health insurance coverage through Community Health Alliance. The public is invited to attend and certified CHA enrollers will be present to answer questions and assist with enrollment.
