First place in the Southern Conference football race is on the line this weekend when the Mocs travel to Western Carolina on Saturday, Nov. 1. Both teams are 4-0 in league action, with UTC owning a 5-3 overall record and WCU checking in at 6-2. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
(E.D.T.) at Whitmire Stadium in Cullowhee, N.C.
Chattanooga is No. 12 in this week’s FCS Coaches Poll and 14th in The Sports Network Top 25. Western Carolina is receiving votes in both rankings and would be 30th in The Sports Network and 33rd in the Coaches Poll if the listings were extended.
The Southern Conference has traditionally featured big games each season. However, this is the first time two teams with at least a 4-0 league tally are meeting since Appalachian State and Elon battled on Nov. 14, 2009 with identical 6-0 conference records.
The Mocs are coming off back to back Southern Conference wins over the Citadel and Mercer.
