  • Friday, October 31, 2014

Chattanooga Police said a woman was sexually assaulted at an Erlanger Hospital parking garage on Friday night.

Police responded to the sexual assault call at approximately 5:50 p.m.

The  victim was attacked at the parking garage area by two black males, police  said.

One was described as mid-20s to 30 with a larger build and a dark complexion. The other had a skinny build.

If anyone has information regarding these suspects please call (423) 698-2525.  If anyone sees any suspicious behavior or any possible suspect that may be related to this incident please call 911 immediately.

The CPD suggests the following safety precautions for parking garages:

1.      When entering the garage, look where the exits and well-lit areas are.

If possible, park close to an exit, or in a well-lit area.

2.      If you notice anyone suspicious, tell somebody. This person may leave you alone, but could attack someone else.

3.      When returning to your vehicle have your keys in your hand to avoid having to look for them.

4.      Walk up straight and confident – do not let anyone make you nervous.

5.      Scan the area around your car – be alert and aware of your surroundings.

6.      And last but not least: trust your instincts. If you do not trust something or do not feel comfortable, turn around and ask a security guard to walk you to your car.

Immediately call 911 if something happens to you or someone else, or you notice anyone out of the ordinary. It is important to report incidents immediately.

Officers will be in the area actively in search of any suspicious activity, police said.
