Thanks to a grant from the UNFoundation, Chattanooga’s homeless community will receive the gift of new innovative coats that transform into a sleeping bag.
A resource of the Empowerment Plan in Detroit that has garnered the attention of CNN, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and other national media, Relevant Hope has worked to secure the funding to protect local homeless residents from harsh winter elements, said officials.
“It’s really about maximum impact,” shares Jimmy Turner, CEO of Relevant Hope. “We distributed many coats and sleeping bags last winter. The Empowerment Plan’s coat that doubles as a sleeping bag provides protection both day and night for those facing the harsh weather conditions fast approaching our area.”
The UNFounation, a Chattanooga-area group committed to funding ideas in the local community, has committed to fund the first 20 coats with Relevant Hope. Through this gift, Relevant Hope will individually distribute each coat to those they serve living outdoors.
