The Ringgold Downtown Development Authority and Convention and Visitor's Bureau will host a Veteran’s Day Celebration featuring the Jericho Brass, Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. as part of Ringgold's annual Fall Festival of Flags.

"Taking the time to honor those veterans who have served our country, allowing us the privilege to live free, is something we should all do," said Randall Franks, DDA chairman. "We hope to fill the Depot as we share in a musical tribute that honors these men and women of Ringgold and Catoosa County."

The free event, at the Ringgold Depot, corner of Depot Street and U.S.
41 in Ringgold, Ga. will feature a patriotic performance by the Jericho Brass, a 32-piece traditional brass band. Frank Hale will direct.

During downtown streetscaping construction, parking is available along most Ringgold streets, as well as city lots on Tennessee St., Depot St. near City Hall and South Depot St., according to Mr. Franks.

“The Jericho Brass is an all-volunteer ensemble, Jericho Brass is made up of professional and college trained musicians from the Tri-State area,” said Jean Dickinson, Jericho Brass publicity coordinator. “The group performs regularly at civic functions, churches, schools and other public venues.”

She said smaller outreach groups from the Jericho membership also perform at nursing homes, school assemblies, churches and libraries.

According to Ms. Dickinson, the instrumentation includes: cornets, flugelhorn, tenor horns, baritone horns, trombones, euphoniums, tubas and percussion.

“In addition to the traditional brass band literature, Jericho Brass performs marches, orchestral transcriptions, popular tunes, hymns, and sacred selections, as well as patriotic favorites,” she said.

The band has performed all across the South, including concerts in Memphis, Greenville, S.C., Charleston, W.V., and Atlanta and two concert tours to England, performing in Huddersfield, Bournemouth, London and Dublin, Ireland.

The group is always looking for talented musicians to join in the fun.

Jericho Brass is a member of Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga. For more information, visit www.jerichobrassband.org.

Ringgold’s Festival of Flags is displayed twice a year and honors the deceased veterans of Catoosa County.

Each flag represents one county resident who has died that served in the military, according to Mayor Joe Barger.

The local Veteran of Foreign Wars post started the flag tradition more than 30 years ago to honor veterans who have died. The project is now stewarded by Ringgold through the help of volunteers from around the county, he said.

The concert will be inside the Depot. Seating is available but bring a seat cushion. Concessions will be available for sale.
