Susanne Brude
Susanne Kay Balsanek Brude of Harrison, loving wife and mother, died, surrounded by family, on Monday, October 27, 2014 at Memorial Hospital of Chattanooga. She was 61.
Susanne was born August 10th, 1953 to William and June Balsanek of Cedar Rapids, Ia. She graduated from Iowa Weslyen College in 1975. She married David Brude in 1979 in Cedar Rapids. They lived in the area from 1982 to 1989 where their three children were born. They relocated to Collegedale, in the fall of 1989.
Sue enjoyed being a wife and mother, dedicating her time and energy to her family. She was an avid gardener and seamstress. She spent many hours hiking, mountain biking, and camping in the surrounding Tennessee Valley, Smoky Mountains, and Virginia, accompanied by her family and friends.
Susanne was very much a social butterfly, a friendly face who never met a stranger. She belonged to local quilting and sewing clubs, a bicycle club, as well as Memorial Center of Cancer Support group. She was the head treasurer at the Harrison SDA Church for over 18 years.
Susanne was preceded in death by her parents, William and June Balsanek; and her son, Jesse Brude.
Susanne is survived by her husband, David Brude of Harrison; daughter, Jenny Brude of Charlotte, N.C.; son, Aaron Brude and his wife Ashley of Apison; her sister, June (Jerry) Cunningham of Cedar Rapids; her brother, William (Glenda) Balsanek of Van Horne, Ia.; sisters-in-law, Debbi Brude and Nancy Zine, brother-in-law, James (Julayne) Brude, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Ooltewah Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Ooltewah.
