Hundreds of local residents, including elected officials, civic leaders and Erlanger employees, will be attending the Chattanooga movie premiere of “Louder than Words,” on Thursday at the Majestic Theater downtown – complete with red carpets and outdoor spotlights.
This Hollywood movie, starring David Ducovney, Timothy Hutton and Hope Davis, is based on the true story of a couple inspired to start a grassroots movement to build a new Children’s Hospital after their child died of rabies. The real-life couple, John and Brenda Fareri, will be attending Chattanooga’s movie premiere.
The winning design/construction team for the new Women’s and Children’s Hospital, part of the multi-phase “Re-Imaging Erlanger” campaign, will also be attending, including Bruce Komiske, project executive for the Erlanger campaign – who is played by Timothy Hutton in the movie.
Artistic renderings of the “Re-Imagining Erlanger” project will be on display in the theater lobby as well. Following the presentation, audience members will be able to stay and ask questions of the Fareris about their ambitious project.
Erlanger President and CEO Kevin M. Spiegel, FACHE, was the chief operating officer of Westchester Hospital – a public, safety net hospital like Erlanger - while this grassroots effort to build a new Children’s Hospital was underway. The project was so successful it served as a model for healing environments around the world, and has had to expand three times since opening 10 years ago, according to Mr. Komiske.
