  • Wednesday, October 29, 2014

Authorities in Whitfield County are seeking the public's help in identifying a burglary suspect.

On Oct. 15, a burglary occurred at a residence on Wildwood Road (off Cleveland Highway in the Varnell area) where a person entered the residence and stole a large amount of jewelry. A friend of the victim arrived at the residence while the burglary was taking place and observed a slender black male around six feet tall, in his 20s, get into a grey (early 2000 model) Cadillac and flee the residence at a high rate of speed. The Cadillac had a Tennessee tag.

The witness attempted to follow the Cadillac but was unable to due to the high speed the Cadillac was traveling north on Cleveland Highway.

Investigators were able to determine the suspect had entered a nearby store just moments before committing the burglary. The photographs are from the store surveillance camera.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect is requested to contact Detective Guay of the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office at 706 278-3029 or 706 278-1233.
