Mattie Ruth Williams, 80, of Summerville, GA, passed away Monday, October 28, 2014 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Williams was born in Villanow, GA on June 25, 1934, daughter of the late Charlie B. Goodson and Lucy Mae Anderson Goodson. She was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Quarter Century Club. Mrs. Williams was employed in the Spinning Department at Mt. Vernon Mills. She liked to hunt and spend time with her family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by a daughter, Rose Dianne Short; brothers and sisters, McGee Goodson, Rebecca Craig, Charlotte Woods, Jeanette Greene, Rubin Goodson and Georgia Mae Cochran.
Mrs. Williams is survived by a daughter, Patricia Espy; brother and sisters-in-law, Herman and Jeannie Goodson, and Joyce Goodson; sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Jimmy Hardin; grandchildren, Angel Touchstone, Kris Espy Smith and Amy Sneed; great-grandchildren, Merrick Touchstone, Tayla Touchstone, Gracey Allmond, Kadin Smith, Brantley Smith and Prezleigh Baty; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Williams will be held Thursday, October 30, at 2 p.m. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tony Smith, Josh Allmond, Greg Espy, Stephen Lyons Kenneth Touchstone, and Cedric Price. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Staff and Residents at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Williams will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Wednesday, October 29 from 6-8 p.m.
