The Stokes photo book is off the press, and there will be two pick-up points this week.

The more than 700 photos from around 1900 were published in a book by Chattanoogan.com

The book will be available from John Wilson on Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. at the law office of David Hawley at 511 Georgia Ave. That is just up the hill from Fountain Square.

A second pick-up time will be Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Zarzours Restaurant on Rossville Avenue off Main Street. It is near Fire Hall #1.

Present at the Zarzours pick-up will be Connie Cooper Jones, a great-great-granddaughter of David Stokes and great-granddaughter of Will Stokes. The photos are by David and Will Stokes, who were both commercial photographers in Chattanooga.

The pictures were passed down to the mother of Ms. Jones and then to her. They have been kept in several cardboard boxes for over a century.

The pick-up times are for those who have already paid as well as those who want to purchase copies of the coffee-table book and have not yet paid.

There is a limited run of 1,000 copies of the almost-600-page book that was printed by College Press at Collegedale.

The photo book is in an 11x8 1/2 format with a soft cover.

The price of the book is $35, which includes the sales tax.

For those who want it mailed, add $5 and list where copies should be mailed to. Send checks for $40 made out to Chattanoogan.com.
