James Elrod, Sr.
James R. Elrod, Sr., 72 of Soddy Daisy, died on Sunday, October 26, 2014, surrounded by his family.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, was involved in his children’s baseball and softball days, and he loved the game of golf. He retired from Atlanta Motor Lines and most recently from Durham School Services.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and Charles Elrod; sister, Linda Stewart; and daughter, Tina Elsea.
Survivors include his loving devoted wife of 50 years, Patsy Elrod; son, James (Lacy) Elrod, Jr.; daughter, Tammy (Oscar) Hixon; son Eric (Tanya) Elrod, grandchildren, Joshua, Mitchell, Alex, Nikoli, Stormy, Taylor, Jakob, and Trey; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at noon on Thursday, Oct. 30, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Mike Battles officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at the funeral home.
