Herbert H. Wright, 84, died on Monday, October 27, 2014 at his residence surrounded by family. 

He retired as pastor of Wesley Chapel Christian Community Church in 2012, he was the founder of the Action Coordination Council and was very active in the Civil Rights Movement.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, two sisters and a son.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Lucille Wright; sons, Cecil Wright, Samuel (Shoneeka) Wright; Marcus (Bermeka) Wright ; daughters, Margaret (Dorsey) Summerfield; Brenda (Spencer) Jones; Thelma and Tawana Wright; brother, Henry (Ella) Wright; sisters, Elizabeth (Charles) Cotton; Myrtle (Eddie) Collins; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Hawkinsville Baptist Church with Reverend Brenda Benn and Pastor Daryl Arnold officiating. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery.

In lieu of follows, remembrances may be made in Reverend Wright’s name to Wesley Chapel Christian Community Church.

The body will lie in state from 1:30–8:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, at Wesley Chapel Christian Community Church.
