Abba’s House (Central Baptist Church of Hixson) will honor Senior Pastor Ron Phillips and his wife, Paulette, for 35 years of service onSunday, Nov. 9.

Dr. Ron Phillips was called as the pastor of Central Baptist in September 1979 from the East Gadsden Baptist Church in Gadsden, AL. Under his leadership, the church entered a new era of growth and expansion. In addition to the church flourishing numerically, the church has expanded physically with the addition of property and buildings to house the growing congregation.

Dr. Phillips’ vision for reaching beyond the walls of the church led to the development of a television ministry. In 1985, “The Central Message” broadcast portions of the service to the Chattanooga area. By 1990, the program began airing nationally and now can be seen around the world as “Ron Phillips from Abba’s House.”

Along with the demand for his television ministry has grown the need for Pastor Phillips’ teaching to be put into print. He is an accomplished writer, with a weekly blog and more than 25 books authored, including the Foundations on the Holy Spirit series, Our Invisible Allies, Everyone’s Guide to Demons & Spiritual WarfareThe Power of Agreement and Unexplained Mysteries of Heaven and Earth.

Dr. Phillips has a Bachelor’s degree from Samford University, as well as a Masters of Divinity and a Doctorate of Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He also celebrates 50 years in ministry this year.

After graduating from Samford University, Paulette Phillips taught high school English and theater arts for 20 years. She currently serves as the Pastor of Adult Ministries at Abba’s House, and leads a weekly community-wide bible study.

They have three children; Kelli Logue, Heather Wooten and Ronnie Phillips, Jr.; and eight grandchildren.

The church will honor the Phillips’ during the 10:30 worship service on Nov. 9, and then at a reception from 2-4 that afternoon. Everyone is invited to attend.

Abba’s House is located at 5208 Hixson Pike, just north of Northgate Mall.
