Sheriff Eric Watson has added another layer of security at the Bradley County Courthouse. After adding extra personnel upon taking office on Sept. 1, the sheriff has placed a security desk in an area just outside the office of County Court Clerk Donna Simpson. This desk is to be manned regularly, with the officer providing a measure of security to the downstairs area.

Sheriff Watson stressed this is in addition to the full compliment of security personnel in or near the courtrooms upstairs.

“We will continue to provide coverage for the entire courthouse and courthouse annex," he said. "The extra person will be able to provide assistance and give directions to offices, along with securing the area.”

The Bradley County Courthouse contains the offices of County Court Clerk Donna Simpson, Circuit Court Clerk Gayla Miller, Trustee Mike Smith, Register of Deeds Dina Swafford, as well as a number of others.

Sheriff Watson sad, “I always look for ways to make our public buildings safer and more secure. This is just a step in that direction.”
