W.A. Hammontree, 91, of Tunnel Hill, GA, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Quinton Memorial Health Care Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Tula Mae McCurry Hammontree; and two sisters, Clarice Bevil and Linda Sue Crowe.
Mr. Hammontree was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army. He was also the recipient of a Purple Heart.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Beverly Hammontree of Dalton, Kenneth and Elaine Hammontree and Gerald and Ann Hammontree all of Tunnel Hill; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Hildred Hammontree of Varnell; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and special friend, Cora Hackney of Dalton
The funeral service will be held Monday, October 27, at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home Bro. Dewey Boyd and Bro. Bryan Collins officiating. Burial will be Anderson Memorial Gardens.
