The Unanimous Votes Of The Signal Mountain Town Council

  • Monday, October 27, 2014

I would like to respond to a recent rumor circulating in the town of Signal Mountain that suggests that Council Members Annette Allen, Bill Lusk and Susan Robertson have voted as a bloc on most issues that have come before the Council. In fact, the record shows that in the four-year period ending this September, there had been 401 votes by the council, only four of which were not unanimous.

1.   A majority voted 3-2 not to cover an operational deficit by using funds designated to pay down the school debt.

2.      A majority voted 3-2 to fire Town Manager Chris Dorsey for cause.

3.   A majority voted 3-2 in favor of working with the Land Trust of Tennessee to draft a conservation easement agreement for town parkland.

4.   A majority voted 4-1 in favor of purchasing the property adjacent to the Library at 1116 James Blvd. for $115,000.

Let me emphasize only four votes were not unanimous.

Clearly, our Council has worked together to accomplish a great deal for the town, which has been recognized nationally as one of the best places to raise kids in the nation, the best place to live in Tennessee, and one of the safest small towns in America.

Susan Robertson
Vice Mayor Town of Signal Mountain
