Everage Holloway
Everage “Scooter” Holloway, Jr., 57, passed away on October 24, 2014 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
He was a graduate of Howard High class of 1975 and Chattanooga State Community College with a certificate in certified maintenance technician.
He was formerly employed at the following companies: Smurfit Stone (Rock Tenn.), Wheland Foundry, Brainerd Driving Range and Farley Sather’s. He served as trustee of the local United Steel Workers of America, Local 3097. He was a member of Olivet Baptist Church. “Scooter” enjoyed golf, football and basketball.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everage, Sr. and Pearliteen Holloway; brother, Michael Holloway; grandmother, Roleana Townsend; father-in-law, E. B. Matthews, Sr.
Survivors include his loving wife, Vicky Matthews Holloway, Chattanooga; children, Everage (Amanda) Holloway, III, Houston, TX; Lakeesha, Brandon and Bradley Holloway, Chattanooga; Eulin (Randi) Matthews, Chattanooga; Theodore (Keasha) Akins, Jr., Chattanooga; seventeen grandchildren; mother-in-law, Mary H. Matthews, Chattanooga; brothers, Randy Holloway, Atlanta, GA and Earl Holloway, Chattanooga; sisters, Robbie (Karlos) Butler, Rhonda (Garry) Martin, Sharon Goins and Brenda Lawler; sister-in-law, Debbie Matthews; brothers-in-law, Eulin (Sarita) Matthews, Thomas (Kimberly) Matthews, Fred Matthews, all of Chattanooga and Lonnie (Pamela) Helton, Montgomery, AL; and aunt, Carolyn Zellander, San Diego, Ca., a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; two close friends, Alfred Jones and Stoney Chubbs.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at New Hope Baptist Church at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Wayne Johnson and Reverend Kevin Adams officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
The body will lie in state after noon on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
