Fred. T. Hanzelik, 63, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died early Friday afternoon, October 24.

Fred was born on July 15, 1951 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to the late Louis and Anita Hanzelik. He was a true family man and lover of life.

Fred was a graduate of the University of South Florida and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Emory University. He practiced law with a passion, dedication, and brilliance that was nearly unmatched. Fred was described as “having a vision to see through issues, problems, and situations on a level most attorneys never reach.” He was truly gifted at what he did.

Law was Fred’s profession, but family was his life. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with his entire family at family dinners, family gatherings, and family vacations. He loved his wife and children. He loved his grandchildren. He loved his friends. He loved people. He loved celebrations, parties, and fun. Fred loved to travel the world and play golf on the planet’s most exclusive and exotic golf courses, including Augusta National, Pebble Beach, Cypress Point, and The Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland. He will be deeply missed as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Fred is survived by his wife, Misty Hanzelik; step-mother, Desi Hanzelik; brother, David Hanzelik, sons, Sean Hanzelik, Ryan Hanzelik, Nicolas Hanzelik, Dylan Hanzelik, and Tanner Webb; daughter, April Jewell; daughters-in-law, Tracy Hanzelik, Heather Hanzelik, and Martha Hanzelik; son-in-law, Steven Shafer; grandson, Andrew Hanzelik; granddaughters, Maddison Hanzelik, Annie Hanzelik, Scarlett Hanzelik, Sara Hanzelik, and Nora Mae Hanzelik, and many other extended family members. Fred also had one late brother, William Hanzelik, whom he adored and looked up to tremendously.
