The Lee volleyball team made it a perfect 6-0 home stand as they defeated the University of West Alabama, 3-0 (25-12, 25-21,25-21) on Saturday afternoon at Walker Arena.
On Friday night the Lady Flames made quick work of Mississippi College with a straight-set victory.
Lee has now won three matches without dropping a set this season.
The victory moves the Lady Flames to 9-16 overall and 6-9 in Gulf South Conference matches. Lee improves to an even 6-6 at home. The loss drops the Tigers to 9-17 overall and 7-9 in conference play.
“It feels really good to get a couple of wins,” said coach Andrea Hudson. “We lost to West Alabama earlier in the year so this was a nice comeback effort.”
The stingy Lee club held the Tigers to just five kills in the first set and cruised to a 25-12 victory. The Lady Flames tallied double-digit kills in each of the three sets and finished with a .262 team hitting percentage.
Lauren Williams completed a fantastic weekend with a match-high 13 kills and three blocks. The Brooklyn Park, Minn. native registered a .524 hitting percentage after setting the school record on Friday in the same category (.941). The senior fired home 29 kills in the two weekend matches.
Sophomores Blaire Beamer and Catherine Conley added six kills each to pace an aggressive middle-attack for the home team.
“Lauren had another great match but everyone in the middle really performed well today,” added Hudson. “Their production is a tribute to our setters doing a really good job.”
The setting duo of Sadie Johnson and Haley Foote set up the offensive attack for the Lady Flames. Foote recorded 14 assists while Johnson led the way with 21. Sarah Davis pitched in 15 digs while adding a match-high four aces.
Morgan Ray and Elizabeth Culhane tallied six kills for West Alabama. Callie Murphy registered 21 assists while Sadie Beam had 14 digs.
Lee will look to win three in a row for the first time all season as they travel to Carrollton to battle West Georgia on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Lady Flames defeated the Wolves earlier in the year in a five-set battle.
