The Golf Coaches Association of America released this week’s Top 25 NAIA Men’s Poll Friday afternoon and, for the first time, Dalton State is in it. Not only that, the Roadrunners debuted at number 15 with 104 points.

“It’s great getting some recognition for the achievements the guys have had this semester,” Roadrunner Director of Golf Ben Rickett said.

The Dalton State men have completed the fall segment of their first season of eligibility. “They have worked so hard and they have been so competitive against strong teams,” added Rickett. “It’s only halfway through the season so it is important that we work hard in the off season and continue making steps in the right direction so that we are ready for April and May.”

The Roadrunners also moved up two spots from number 15 to number 13 in the Golfstats NAIA Top 25.

William Woods received nine first place votes and 294 points to move up to number one in the GCAA Poll. Last week’s top team, Oklahoma City, fell to second with two first place votes and 267 points.

College of Coastal Georgia defeated Dalton State by one stroke in this week’s Chick-Fil-A Tournament in Rome. The Mariners remained in third with 264, only 3 points behind Oklahoma City. Faulkner joined Dalton State and Coastal Georgia in the poll. The Eagles are number 17, down seven spots from tenth.
