Clarence Robert Sweatman, 78, of Trion, GA, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 in Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr Sweatman was born January 4, 1936 in Trion, GA. Mr. Sweatman was a member of the Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and retired after serving our country for 23 ½ years. He was also retired from the USPS as a postal clerk. Mr. Sweatman enjoyed metal detecting, fishing, watching Braves baseball. He was a great guy, best grandfather in the world. He enjoyed cooking breakfast for the grandchildren and was the father of the family and looked after all of his brothers and their families.
Mr. Sweatman was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Leroy Sweatman and Ella Juanita Roberts Sweatman; and brothers, Orville Lee “Shorty” Sweatman, Hugh Max Sweatman, Jerry Lamar Sweatman and Harold Sweatman.
Mr. Sweatman is survived by his wife, Muriel Sweatman; daughters, Hope Sweatman Welch and Dawn Sweatman (Gregory Allen) Clark; grandchildren, Shaina Hope Clark, Hunter Steven Clark, Tristan McCall Welch and Roland Dwight Welch; special friends, Lee and Wanda Wright and Grant Montgomery; nieces and nephews; and special doctors and nurses who took care of him at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be Sunday, October 26, at 3 p.m. from the Petitt Chapel of Coffman Funeral Home with Father Lee Humphries, Father King Oehmig, and Rev. David Romine officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Martin Lee Sweatman, Gary Dean Sweatman, Grant Andre Montgomery, Hunter Clark, Sammy Tapp, Greg Clark and Leroy Bud Sweatman. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church.
Visitation for Mr. Clarence Robert Sweatman will be Sunday, October 26, at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m.
