Attacca String Quartet will give a concert in Sewanee on Nov. 1. Violinists Amy Schroeder and Keiko Tokunaga, violist Luke Fleming, and cellist Andrew Yee make up the group. They will perform in Guerry Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. as part of the University of the South's Performing Arts Series.
Each member of the quartet received an advanced degree from Julliard School, where the Attacca String Quartet was created in 2003. They have performed in Carnegie Hall, and have toured Ireland, Japan, Canada, the United States, and Spain playing selections from Adams, Grieg, Stravinsky, and more.
The quartet is best known for a project undertaken in the 2013-2014 season, entitled “The 68.” A multi-year series, “The 68” will cover each of the 68 string quartets composed by Haydn.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $10 for students.
The next Performing Arts Series event will be a concert by organist Gail Archer at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13, in All Saints’ Chapel on the Sewanee campus.
