Commissioner Pierce Isn't Listening To Red Bank Citizens

From the Chattanoogan article about last night's Red Bank Commission meeting, regarding Floy Pierce:

She then asked the people in the community to stop the slander, referring to the many recent comments in the news media and on Facebook. She said, “I do have a heart and have feelings and it’s been awful, what’s been written about me.”

Here's the definition of slander:

1. Law Oral communication of false statements injurious to a person's reputation.
2. A false and malicious statement or report about someone.

I personally have not seen anything false or malicious.  If Commissioner Pierce wanted to refute the statements that have been posted, she had two opportunities to speak directly to her constituents and potential voters at candidate forums.  She refused.  She has had opportunities in open meeting to explain why she voted the way she did, and she refused to answer any questions.  That is not slander, that is a fact, documented in numerous places.  Many of the things I have posted and I have seen others post contain direct quotes, some from her printed campaign materials.  How is that slander?

I do not think Mrs. Pierce is a bad person.  I think she has a good heart, and I believe she thinks she knows what's best; it's just not what many of us Red Bank citizens think is best.  Her fault is that she does not appear to feel accountable to the citizens of Red Bank.  Maybe she does feel accountable, but if so, it doesn't show.  I am sorry her feelings have been hurt, but she should be listening to the citizens of Red Bank, and she obviously isn't.
