Hutcheson Welcomes New Physical Therapist And Speech Pathologist

Gay Rice, Physical Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist, and Matthew Meredith, Certified Speech-Language Pathologist, have joined the rehabilitation team at Hutcheson Medical Center. 

Gay Rice, PT, CHT graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelors in Physical Therapy, and became board certified in Hand Therapy in 2003. Ms. Rice has worked at Hamilton Medical Center, where she served as the hospital’s Director of Rehabilitation Care, and was owner of Rice Rehabilitation Associates in Dalton. She has over 29 years of physical therapy experience and will be assisting patients both at the hospital’s rehabilitation center and at the Lafayette clinic.

Matthew Meredith, MA, MS, CCC-SLP, graduated from MTSU with a Bachelors in Spanish and French, obtained his Masters in Spanish Linguistics at University of Iowa, and received his Masters in Speech-Language Pathology degrees from the University of Tennessee. Mr. Meredith most recently practiced at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN, where he performed Modified Barium Swallow Studies and treated patients of all ages on an inpatient and outpatient basis.  He is certified to perform VitalStim swallowing treatments and focuses on patients with swallowing and communication disorders including voice, aphasia, and dysarthria.  Mr. Meredith is also bilingual and treats patients in English and Spanish. 

Hutcheson Medical Center offers comprehensive rehabilitation services, including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Cardiac Rehab, and Advanced Wound Center. Services are offered at the hospital, at Parkside Nursing Facility, at Physicians Family Care in Lafayette, and at Trenton Family Practice.
