Retired As Charge LPN At Erlanger After 31 Years

Anne E. Stewart Henry, 94, died on Saturday, October 18, 2014 surrounded by loved ones when she passed. 

She was born on June 4, 1920 in Hollywood, Al., to the union of the late Daniel and Effie Stewart.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

On Dec. 2, 1941, she was united in holy matrimony to Alexander Henry, Sr., in Scottsboro, Al. To this union four sons were born; Alexander, Jr., Willie Joe, Robert and Steve Henry.  Mrs. Henry was the loving wife of Alexander Henry, Sr., for 54 years.

Mrs. Henry was a faithful and devoted member of New Zion Baptist Church and attended regularly until her passing.  She was a member of the Eastern Star and a retired charge LPN for over 31 years at Erlanger Hospital.  After retirement, she loved spending time gardening with her family.

Survivors are four sons, Alexander, Jr., Willie Joe, Robert (Robbie) and Steve (Leona) Henry of Hollywood, Alabama; three sisters, Rosa L. Sharpe, Chattanooga; Forrestine Boykins and Bettye J. Bell of Alabama; 12 grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 24, at noon at New Zion Baptist Church, located at 809 East MLK Blvd.  Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The body will lie in state after noon on Thursday and the family will receive friends from 6–7 PM at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
