Ann Elisabeth “Annelies” Howard, 88, of Athens, Alabama, died on Friday, October 17, 2014.
A native of Kassel, Germany she moved to the Chattanooga area in 1952 and later moved to Athens in 2001. She was of the Lutheran faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Howard; parents, Herbert and Marguret Backhaus Otto; son, Bernd Howard; granddaughter, Cher Howard; and sister, Eva Stringer.
She is survived by her daughter, Theresa Howard Owens (Andrew Casali) of Madison, Al.; brother, Karl Iske of Montreal, Canada; former daughter-in-law, Glenda Howard Smith of Early Branch, S.C.; five grandchildren, Christopher Howard, Chea Howard Ward, Zachary Owens, Laine Owens and Timothy Breedlove, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, in the funeral home chapel with Brother Jim Kirkland officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens-West.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Oct. 19, from 2-5 p.m. and Monday until funeral time at the funeral home.
