Hall Of Famer Jimmy Tawater Returns To Camp Jordan For Free Concert

  • Thursday, October 16, 2014

The final free concert of 2014 in the Camp Jordan Jams series will happen on Saturday night when Jimmy Tawater and the Cat Daddy Band take the stage at 6 p.m. for a two hour show.

This event will also serve as an East Ridge All-Classes High School reunion for those who attended the school.  Graduates are asked to bring their annuals and wear school colors. In addition, the Park Pavilion will be available for East Ridge High alums.

Saturday will also be proclaimed East Ridge High School Alumni Day in the city of East Ridge.

This is the third engagement on the Camp Jordan Park Amphitheatre stage this year for former East Ridge High student Jimmy Tawater.

East Ridge Parks and Recreation Director Stump Martin said Tawater dazzled the crowd at Libertyfest in June and he was invited back for a private performance by a Tri-state area company in August.

"If you have never seen Jimmy perform he's a real treat," Mr. Martin said. "He and his band are energetic and play music that makes you want to get up and dance."

Mr. Martin said Jimmy Tawater is a Chattanooga Music Hall of Fame member.

“We expect a good crowd," Mr. Martin said. "When the Beaters performed at Camp Jordan Jams last month we had people camping in the RV Park and cooking out before the concert. People brought their classic and muscle cars to the park and we all had a good time. This is the type atmosphere that we are trying to create at Camp Jordan."

Mr. Martin said the intent of the Camp Jordan Jams concert series is to bring the community together with its neighbors throughout the region to promote what East Ridge and Camp Jordan have to offer.

"It's a free event that you can make into your party," Mr. Martin said. "There's plenty of room and you can invite all of your friends and family. We just want everybody to have a great time and enjoy Camp Jordan. We have a beautiful place that's perfect for so many activities for different people of all ages. And you don't need a GPS device to find I-75, Exit I."

Mr. Martin said the East Ridge Parks and Recreation will soon announce a special Christmas concert coming to the Camp Jordan Arena in November.

"All I can say at this point is that it is going to be something that benefits a lot of kids and will be extremely thoughtful and entertaining," Mr. Martin said.
