Atterton, Paul "Dunkin" (Whitwell)

Paul "Dunkin" Atterton, 79, of Whitwell, TN, died on Tuesday, October 14, 2014.

He was preceded in death by parents, William and Eva Atterton; brothers, Raymond, Milton and Wade; and grandson, Scott Atterton.

He was a member of Greens Chapel Methodist Church, past mayor of Whitwell, served as Commissioner for several years and loved all sports.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys; sons, Junior and Kenny (Tonya) Atterton; daughters, Rhonda Atterton and Robin Nipper; grandchildren, Brian, Dylan and Chance Atterton, Lindsay Atterton, Jessica (Kyle) Holloway and Shelley Nipper; and great-granddaughter, Alexus Atterton.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 17 at 2 p.m. CDT in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Sam Long and Terry Winston officiating. Burial will be in Griffith Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Griffith Cemetery, Attention Glenn Price, 495 Cedar Springs Loop, Whitwell, TN 37397.

Arrangements by Reed Funeral Home, 11675 Hwy 28, Whitwell, TN 37397, where the family will receive friends Thursday, October 16 from 4-9 p.m. CDT.
