David Harris of Associated Island Developers, LTD has received approval from the Bahamas Investment Authority for his private island development Escape Cay and Macana Resort, on a 120-acre island in the Bahamas. The approval will allow Mr. Harris and his team to begin the process of developing the proposed 36 residential vacation homes and boutique resort.
Located just 15 minutes from Georgetown, which is the capitol of Exuma, Escape Cay will feature 2,650-square-foot, four-bedroom, 4½-bath, environmentally-sustainable homes.
Macana Resort will consist of an assortment of over water bungalows with direct access to the pool, clubhouse, trails and park areas.
In addition to the approval, Associated Island Developers was granted support structures for the development consisting of beach construction, piers and floating docks, a restaurant, recreation center, club house, pavilion and bar area, outdoor amphitheater, nature walk, suspending walking bridges, and park areas.
Mr. Harris was also approved under the Hotel Encouragement Act, which is an incentive program that the Bahamian government has in place for developers, allowing import of all construction equipment and materials into the country, tax-free. This incentive will be passed on to each property owner, saving thousands, it was stated.
“Escape Cay and Macana Resort have been a vision of mine for quite some time, and to see the countless hours of preparation and planning from our team finally come to fruition is overwhelmingly exciting,” said Mr. Harris. “We look forward to growing our relationship with the Bahamian government in order to create a destination that will magnify the existing beauty of the island.”
